The award is one of eight strategic initiatives being led by the Executive Cabinet to promote the long-term growth and relevance of the society. The SAMPE DEI Award was created earlier this year to acknowledge and celebrate exemplary leadership in advancing DEI within the SAMPE STEM and M&P communities. Both recipients will be honored at the upcoming SAMPE Awards Dinner & Ceremony at CAMX Dallas, on Monday, October 18, 2021.

“The SAMPE DEI Award is another means of expressing SAMPE’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion,” says German Reyes-Villanueva, Ph.D., SAMPE DEI Strategic Initiative Champion, SAMPE North America Treasurer, and Program Director of the MSE in Materials Science and Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Michigan-Dearborn. “We hope this award will spark more organizations within the composites and advanced materials community to make concerted changes to their organizational culture.”
